2008 VOLKSWAGEN SCIROCCO Update: Please click here to see the updated Volkswagen Scirocco/Iroc Page WHAT VOLKSWAGEN HAS TO SAY ABOUT THE 2008 SCIROCCO: Currently the 2008 Volkwagen Scirocco is just a speculation. No official press release on this vehicle has been made. Articles, discussions and links to information on the 2007 - 2008 Volkswagen Scirocco: Sports Car Forums - VW Hints at a new Scirocco at the 2006 SEMA Show In a media release about the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show in Las Vegas, VW USA included the following paragraph: "VW's current technical strengths and enriched model lines are simply one wave of a torrent of new models, including a new Passat with a larger, more powerful V6, the next GTI, the Eos hardtop convertible, and, further down the line, a 2+2 sport coupe that hearkens to the heyday of the Scirocco. Look for more exciting Volkswagens at next year?s SEMA Show." Although there have been a lot of rumours for sometime that VW is to ad a coupe model to its line-up, this is the first confirmation that the carmaker has such plans. We expect that VW will launch the new Scirocco in 2008. It will take its styling cues from VW's 2003 Frankfurt Motor Show stunner, the Concept R. In production guise this 2+2 seater will also share its design with that of the new Eos coupe cabriolet and Passat. The new coupe will share its underpinnings with that of the Jetta and it VW will offer it with three engine choices. The entry-level model will get the company's new 1.4-litre Twincharger FSI unit and it will also be available with the GTI's 147kW 2-litre turbocharged engine. Under the bonnet of the range-topping model will the new 3.2-litre V6 engine of the Golf R32. Jalopnik - More information on the upcoming VW Scirocco While it may not get the Scirocco name (Rivo is rumored) details on VW’s relaunch of a new sports coupe are emerging, with AutoWeek getting the boys from Wolfsburg to go on record. According to AW the new coupe is planned for the 2008 model year, will get the same aggressive styling (minus the convertible top) of the company’s Concept R prototype. Power will come from the same 247hp, 3.2-liter V6 as in the Passat, but the coupe will be built on a modified Jetta chassis. beltline and beefy body, but the flames of memory obviously burn hotter
for the older moniker. OUR TAKE ON THE 2008 VOLKSWAGEN SCIROCCO: The sport coupe has become somewhat of a hot trend int the Euro Tuning world as of lately and the redesign of the iconic Scirocco seems to be an excellent play for the German car manufacturer. The Scirocco seems like it could possibly share many of the same styling cues and chassis of the upcoming 2007 Audi TT. Volkswagen has built its name for being innovative for such cars that have become a legend as the Scirocco, and with the 2008 remodel of this sport coupe, we are certain this will be a hot seller for VW.
