WHAT NISSAN HAS TO SAY ABOUT THIS CAR:

NEW YORK (April 12, 2006) – Carlos Ghosn, president and CEO, Nissan Motor Co., today unveiled the all-new 2007 Nissan Altima and redesigned 2007 Nissan Maxima at the 2006 New York International Auto Show. Mr. Ghosn also announced that the next generation of the Nissan’s renowned GT-R performance car will be available in North America and badged as a Nissan model.

The GT-R, which was previewed in concept form as the GT-R PROTO at last year’s Tokyo Motor Show, has not previously been offered for sale in North America. It is scheduled to go on sale in Japan in fall 2007, followed by the U.S. and Canada in spring 2008.

The next generation of Altima, Nissan’s best-selling vehicle, and the significantly enhanced version of Nissan’s flagship Maxima performance sedan were joined at the show by three additional new 2007 Nissan vehicles – the all-new entry-level Versa, the all-new Sedan and the redesigned Quest minivan.

"In today’s competitive automotive landscape, there is no place for half-measures, no place for shortcuts and no substitute for great products," said Mr. Ghosn. "This is the next generation of Nissan products, the next generation of SHIFT_."

The 2007 Maxima will be available in June, along with the new Quest and Versa Hatchback. The 2007 Sentra goes on sale in October, followed by the Altima in November and the Versa Sedan in late 2006.

The all-new 2007 Nissan Altima is evolutionary in design, but revolutionary in its platform and hardware – while also offering new levels of quality feel, enhanced comfort and available convenience features. Along with its distinctive styling, the fourth generation Altima utilizes the all-new Nissan "D" platform with improved body rigidity and a redesigned suspension with the development objective of making Altima one of the best performing large front-wheel drive sedans available globally.

The new Altima also offers Nissan’s advanced Xtronic CVT™ (Continuously Variable Transmission), a choice of the award-winning VQ-series 3.5-liter V6 or powerful 2.5-liter inline 4-cylinder engines, and a long list of technology features – including available Intelligent Key with Push Start Ignition, Bluetooth® Hands-Free Phone System, RearView Monitor and an advanced touch-screen navigation system.

The enhancements to the 2007 Maxima include a redesigned exterior with a new front grille, hood, headlights; a refined premium interior with a redesigned instrument panel with new Fine Vision gauge display; intuitive next generation technology features including Intelligent Key; and the adoption of standard, performance-based Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) on all models. The new Maxima continues to offer a standard 3.5-liter DOHC 24-valve V6 engine.

OUR TAKE ON THE 2007 NISSAN ALTIMA: Nissan Motors looks to be coming out strong with several new 2007 models to hit showrooms later this year including the Sentra, Quest, Altima and G35 Sedan. The all new from the ground up Nissan Altima has undergone a complete facelift that brings styling cues from its siblings the Nissan Maxima and Infiniti Q45. The new Altima succeeds in its goal since its inception in 1993 as a moderate priced luxury vehicle. Minor details such as a push button starter complete the package and give value to an over inflated market.

THE NISSAN ALTIMA COMPETES WITH: 2006 Honda Accord, 2006 Toyota Corolla, 2006 Ford Fusion, 2006 Dodge Caliber
