The MAZDA 3 i 4-Door model adds Variable Valve Timing (VVT) to the 2.0-liter engine, increasing power to 150-horsepower (or 145-horsepower PZEV-rated) while increasing fuel economy. The 2.3-liter s model continues to produce 160-horsepower. The perfect sedan for an active lifestyle, the MAZDA 3i 4-Door offers an optional four-speed automatic transmission while the MAZDA 3 s with the 2.3-liter engine now offers as optional an all-new five speed automatic transmission. MAZDA 3 5-Door is a sporty hatchback with design flair targeted to appeal to a youthful mindset. Fitted with a 2.3-liter, 160-horsepower MZR engine, the same as found in MAZDA 3 4-Door s, MAZDA 5 and MAZDA 6 i , MAZDA 3 5-Door comes standard with a sport package that includes stylish front and rear bumpers, side-skirts, 17-inch alloy wheels, front fog lamps and unique taillights. An all-new five-speed automatic transmission is optional. A new 2.3-liter “s Grand Touring” model contains features of last year’s very popular special edition SP23, including heated leather seats, automatic rain sensors, automatic headlights, climate control, plus a trip computer. An optional moonroof and custom Bose ® audio system acoustically tuned for each body style with a digital amplifier, four door speakers, two tweeters and a subwoofer, an in-dash six-disc CD changer and radio that's ready for SIRIUS TM satellite radio reception is available (requires subscription and additional hardware) . In addition, two new exterior colors, Copper Red Mica, and Whitewater Pearl Mica, are added on the 2.3-liter models. OUR TAKE ON THE 2006 MAZDA 3: The entry level Mazda 3 returns with minor changes for the 2006 model year. Again the Mazda 3 is availible in a sedan or 4 door hatchback. The Mazda 3 being the least expensive in the Mazda lineup is still stylishly sculpted and carries the lines of its siblings such as the RX8 and Mazda 6.
