2006 ACURA TL WHAT ACURA HAS TO SAY ABOUT THIS CAR: (source: Acura/Honda Motors) If the 258-horsepower, 3.2-liter TL doesn't deliver the power and comfort you crave, perhaps no luxury sedan is up to the task. With its potent 24-valve, VTEC® engine and 4-wheel independent double-wishbone suspension system, you'll be a commanding presence wherever you roam. Thanks to its countless technological achievements, the 2006 TL boasts an inspired array of amenities, like Bluetooth wireless cell phone technology and the Acura/ELS Premium 8-speaker Surround-Sound System with DVD-Audio, to name a few. It also offers some of the most outstanding safety features in its class, like an integrated 4-wheel anti-lock braking system (ABS) with Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA®) and an advanced front and side airbag system. And new to the TL this year is the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)-an invaluable safety measure that alerts you when one or more tires are low. Smooth, graceful
lines and class-leading power make the 2006 3.2-liter Acura TL both
an object of beauty and a force to be reckoned with. An aluminum-alloy,
V-6, 258-horsepower engine and 4-wheel independent double-wishbone suspension
system give this high-performance sedan its true-exhilaration credentials.
Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA®) with traction control is just one
of the few attributes that endow the 2006 Acura TL with such remarkably
crisp handling. And for those performance-driving enthusiasts with the
most exacting standards, the A-SPEC Kit is available to satisfy
your every demand. The 2006 TL ushers in an entirely new era of performance sedan with an advanced 3.2-liter, 24-valve, V-6 engine that produces a class-leading 258 horsepower at 6200 rpm. But there's more to this exhilarating ride than meets the eye. Like our trademark VTEC® technology, which enables an impressive 233-lbs-ft of torque at 5000 rpm. And the Drive-by-Wire Throttle System for smooth acceleration, a refined shift feel and improved performance in all driving conditions. In short, it's a performance package intent on creating moments of pure oblivion. The 2006 TL is available with an automatic or manual transmission. A sophisticated 5-speed Sequential SportShift automatic transmission shifts with grace, or, with a quick flick of the lever into the shift gate, you can upshift and downshift for semi-automatic operation. For those who insist on calling the shots, you'll want the close-ratio, short-throw 6-speed manual transmission, which features a Limited Slip Differential (LSD) for enhanced traction during acceleration, and a Dual-Mass Flywheel for smoothness and control. The Grade Logic Control System minimizes "gear hunting" that other transmissions can encounter on steep roads and downhill stretches. A rigid, four-wheel
independent suspension system is what separates a serious performance
sedan from the pack. But the 2006 TL takes it a step further with a
double-wishbone front suspension and double wishbone rear suspension
for superior pitch- and roll-resistance while accelerating, braking
and cornering. The front suspension combines large bushings with extremely
rigid upper arms for reduced road noise and to help absorb impact energy.
And stabilizer bars in the front and rear provide additional stability
for firm, controlled handling. Stopping power is firm and precise with large 11.8-inch front (12.2-inch on manual transmission) and 11.1-inch rear disc brakes. To help maintain control in all driving conditions, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA®) adjusts brake pressure and engine power to help correct understeer and oversteer. For even more control, the Traction Control function works seamlessly with VSA to monitor wheel slip while accelerating or driving on slippery surfaces. Even in inclement weather, the standard Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) helps the driver maintain steering control during hard braking. For added safety, the new brake assist feature can help the driver stop promptly in an emergency braking situation. Manual transmission
models feature high-performance Brembo calipers and rotors, which are
ventilated to reduce fade and increase friction and high-friction brake
pads for additional braking power. Manual transmission models can also
be ordered with even stickier P235/45 R17 high-performance tires. RELATED ARTICLES, REVIEWS AND SITES:
